The Silverdale Installation Instructions & Warnings on Component Consumption feature strengthens shop floor quality and safety by surfacing critical product-specific messages during production. This ensures operators are informed of any special installation steps or cautionary notices at the moment they consume components in a Manufacturing Order (MO).

What It Does

This feature introduces new fields on the Product form:

  • Installation Instructions: Detailed instructions visible to the shop floor worker during MO execution.
  • Warning Type: Choose between:
    • No Message
    • Warning Message (informational)
    • Blocking Message (requires user acknowledgment to proceed)
  • Warning Text: The custom message that is displayed during component consumption.

How It Works

When a product is used as a component in a Manufacturing Order:

  • The system checks if the product has installation instructions or warnings.
  • If a Warning Message is set, a popup appears when the component is consumed.
  • If a Blocking Message is set, the user must confirm the warning to proceed.
  • Instructions appear inline or via popup in the Work Order or Component Consumption screen.

User Steps

  1. Go to Inventory > Products and open any product used in MOs.
  2. In a new section labeled Manufacturing Instructions, add:
    • Installation Instructions (rich text or plain)
    • Warning Type (None / Warning / Blocking)
    • Warning Text
  3. Create a Manufacturing Order that includes this product as a component.
  4. Launch the Work Order from the Shopfloor or MO screen.
  5. When the user attempts to consume the component:
    • The instruction or warning is displayed.
    • If blocking, the message must be acknowledged before continuing.
