Field operators often need to confirm delivery or operations while using handheld barcode scanners. This feature adds a “Send Confirmation Email” button directly to the handheld barcode interface in Odoo. It empowers users to instantly send or customize delivery confirmations and other emails, right from the device they are working on.
Key Features:
Button Placement on Handheld View:
A new “Send Confirmation Email” button is added to barcode interfaces, like Delivery Orders.
Opens Standard Odoo Mail Composer Wizard:
On clicking the button, a full email wizard opens (mobile-optimized), letting users:
- Preview default email content.
- Modify subject/body.
- Select from available email templates.
- Send instantly.
Template Support:
The wizard auto-loads a default email template (like Delivery Confirmation) but also allows users to choose a different one as needed.
Mobile-Friendly Design:
Ensures that the mail composer is fully responsive, providing a seamless experience across handheld barcode devices.
User Steps:
- Navigate to the Barcode app on a handheld/mobile device.
- Open a Delivery Order or supported operation.
- Click the “Send Confirmation Email” button.
- The system launches the mail composer wizard with:
- Default template content loaded.
- Option to change template.
- Option to edit subject/body.
- Click Send to email the confirmation.
Use Case Example:
A warehouse worker completes scanning and validating items for a delivery. Instead of switching to a desktop to send the confirmation, they click “Send Confirmation Email” from their handheld scanner interface, review the content, and send it instantly to the customer.
