In the standard Odoo flow, receipt operations generated from Purchase Orders may pre-fill received quantities based on ordered amounts. This behavior can introduce inaccuracies, especially in barcode-driven warehouse environments where manual scanning is essential for accuracy.

The "Disable Auto-Received Quantities on Receipts" feature ensures that all received quantities are initialized to zero upon receipt creation. This encourages precise tracking by allowing warehouse personnel to enter or scan actual quantities received.

Functionality:

  • No Auto-Filled Done Quantities:
    • Prevents default pre-population of the “Done” field on incoming shipments.
  • Improved Manual Validation:
    • Enables teams to manually input or scan each item using the Barcode app.
  • Fully Compatible with Barcode Module:
    • Ensures scanning workflows operate without interference from pre-filled data.

Use Case:

  • You receive a purchase order of 100 units, but only 95 are delivered.
  • Without this feature, Odoo may auto-fill 100 as received—causing incorrect inventory.
  • With this feature, the “Done” quantity is 0 by default, and the warehouse team scans 95 units, capturing the correct data.

Benefits:

  • Accurate Inventory: Prevents over-receipt or false assumptions of delivered goods.
  • Barcode Compliance: Works seamlessly with barcode-driven receiving workflows.
  • Reduces Manual Errors: Avoids reliance on pre-filled values, encouraging physical validation.

Conclusion:

The "Disable Auto-Received Quantities on Receipts" feature supports accurate warehouse practices, particularly in barcode-enabled environments. By disabling auto-filling, it empowers users to validate real-world quantities, minimizing discrepancies and improving inventory accuracy across the supply chain.
