Add Packaging Consumption

Manufacturers often need to handle packaged kits or grouped products during production. But standard Odoo flows don't allow selecting packaging configurations that automatically influence material consumption — especially when dealing with kits vs. finished goods.

The Inventory Packaging on Manufacturing Orders feature bridges this gap. It introduces a smart button labeled “Inventory Packaging” to both the Manufacturing Order form and the Shopfloor screen, enabling packaging-aware production control. With just a few clicks, operators can select a product, its quantity, and a packaging option — and the system handles the rest based on the product’s Bill of Materials (BoM).

  • Produce All on MO form, or
  • Mark as Done & Close MO on Shopfloor
    → The system automatically consumes all relevant components associated with the selected packaging product

Example Use Case:

2. Select Product = Bathroom Kit, Quantity = 1, and Packaging = “Retail Box”
3. The system auto-fills all components based on the Kit BoM
4. Upon clicking Produce All, all items are properly consumed — no manual adjustments needed
