Start And End Barcodes On MO Report To Control Work Order Timer

This feature will introduce two distinct barcodes—Start Barcode and End Barcode—on the printed Manufacturing Order (MO) report. Scanning the Start Barcode on the shop floor will trigger the timer on the associated Work Order, replicating the effect of clicking the work tile. Scanning the End Barcode will stop the timer

This SME feature enhances shop floor automation by embedding Start and End barcodes on the Manufacturing Order (MO) report. Scanning the Start Barcode initiates the timer on the corresponding Work Order, effectively replicating a manual "Start" click within the system. Scanning the End Barcode stops the timer and can be configured for two behaviors:

  • Stop Timer Only
  • Stop Timer + Mark Work Order Done / Close MO

The configuration options for the End Barcode are defined via SME Settings, allowing operational flexibility across different manufacturing workflows.

This functionality is especially valuable for hands-free environments, where operators prefer using barcode scanners rather than navigating touchscreen interfaces. It streamlines time tracking and execution on the shop floor while improving accountability and reducing data entry errors.

Conclusion:

This feature improves operational efficiency and ensures accurate work tracking by enabling full control of work order timers through barcode scanning—eliminating the need for direct interaction with the interface on the shop floor.
