Silverdale Scan-Prioritized Manufacturing Order View improves production control by allowing users to search or scan Manufacturing Order (MO) or Sales Order (SO) numbers and display them in the exact sequence they were entered or scanned. This is a significant usability upgrade over Odoo's default behavior, which typically sorts orders by date or status.

Key Problem Solved

In fast-paced manufacturing environments, operators and planners need to prioritize specific jobs quickly—often based on operational urgency rather than chronological or status-based sorting. This feature enables that flexibility by preserving the order in which users manually type or scan MO/SO numbers.

How It Works:

Whether in the Manufacturing Orders list view or on the Shopfloor interface, this feature ensures:

  • When multiple MO/SO numbers are typed or scanned, the system returns the exact records in the order entered.
  • The sequence remains consistent in:
    • Manufacturing > Operations > Manufacturing Orders
    • Shopfloor Work Orders screen
    • Any interface where MOs or SOs are pulled up using a search or barcode input.

Benefits:

  • Real-time operational alignment: Execute and track work based on planner or floor manager priorities.
  • Scan-friendly: Designed for barcode scanners to quickly drive the UI.
  • Improves user experience by avoiding unwanted re-sorting by status/date.
  • Supports batch scanning workflows during shift changes, emergencies, or special production runs.

Example Use Case:

A production manager has a list of urgent MOs that need to be addressed in a specific sequence. They scan or enter:

MO0234, MO0178, MO0321

Instead of being auto-sorted by creation date or stage, the system shows:

1. MO0234
2. MO0178
3. MO0321

—exactly how they were input. This same logic applies when scanned via handheld devices on the Shopfloor module.

Compatibility:

  • Fully supports Odoo v17 and v18.
  • Works across both backend Manufacturing views and frontend Shopfloor interfaces.

This Silverdale enhancement offers practical value in environments where production priorities change rapidly, and sequencing matters more than default sorting logic.
