The Reassign Customer on Confirmed Subscription feature improves sales and subscription flexibility by allowing authorized users to update the customer on a confirmed sales order—without needing to cancel or duplicate it.

Key Features

  • New Button: “Change Customer” – Appears on confirmed Sale Orders.
  • Customer Selection Popup – Lets users choose a different customer from a dropdown in a controlled dialog.
  • Restricted by User Group – Only users in the "Can Change Customer on Confirmed Order" group can access this functionality.

Standard Odoo Behavior

In standard Odoo, once a Sale Order is confirmed, the Customer field becomes locked and cannot be changed without canceling or duplicating the order.

What This Feature Changes

  • Adds a “Change Customer” Button for users in a specific group.
  • When clicked, it opens a popup allowing users to select and confirm a new customer.
  • Controlled access ensures only authorized users can perform this sensitive operation.

How It Works

  1. Go to a confirmed Sale Order or Subscription.
  2. Click the “Change Customer” button (visible only to users in the allowed group).
  3. A popup will appear with a customer selection field.
  4. Choose the new customer and confirm.
  5. The order is updated with the new customer, without affecting other order details.

Benefits

Fix Mistakes Easily – Quickly reassign customers if selected incorrectly.

Controlled by Permissions – Only allowed users can use this feature.

Avoid Order Cancellation – No need to duplicate or cancel orders for simple changes.

Conclusion

"Reassign Customer on Confirmed Subscription" streamlines customer correction workflows by adding a secure, permission-based popup to change the customer on confirmed sales orders—improving flexibility while maintaining data control.
