Pass/Fail QCP Type With Action Handling

Adds configurable failure-handling actions to "Pass/Fail" quality control points (QCPs) in Manufacturing. Depending on configuration, a failed QCC can either block the work order, recreate the same QCC, or create a follow-up step on downstream operations. Helps enforce quality protocols and ensure failure traceability

The Silverdale Pass/Fail QCP Action Handling module introduces advanced logic to the manufacturing quality process by enabling dynamic responses when a product fails a Pass/Fail Quality Check Control (QCC). Instead of a one-size-fits-all reaction to quality failures, this enhancement allows quality teams and manufacturing supervisors to choose from predefined actions, improving traceability, operational flexibility, and quality enforcement.

With this feature, when a Pass/Fail QCP is configured, users can define what should happen if the result is Fail. Three powerful options are available:

Configurable Failure Responses:

  1. Block and Alert
    • The Work Order is blocked.
    • A popup appears prompting the user to assign a corrective activity based on a template.
    • All downstream steps in the Manufacturing Order are blocked until manually unblocked by a supervisor.
    • Warning messages notify other users trying to proceed that the operation is blocked due to a failed QCC.
  2. Create Same QCC Again
    • The failed QCC is automatically recreated for the same operation.
    • This loop continues until the operator successfully passes the QCC.
    • Production cannot move forward until the check is passed.
  3. Create a New Step and Pass to Next Operations
    • A new QCP is dynamically created and attached to all future operations.
    • The name of the step includes the failure context (e.g., "Failed Step (Work Center / Operation Name)").
    • This allows the production line to continue while documenting the failed condition across subsequent operations.

Configuration:

  • Go to Quality > Control Points, create or edit a QCP.
  • Select Type: Pass/Fail.
  • A new field “On Failure Action” will appear with the above options.
  • Choose the desired behavior based on your production quality workflow.

Benefits:

  • Ensures operators and supervisors follow specific steps after failed inspections.
  • Maintains traceability of failed operations and how they were handled.
  • Enhances quality accountability and reduces the chance of bypassing failed inspections.

This feature is ideal for manufacturers who prioritize quality assurance and need structured follow-up actions on failed quality checks. By automating and tracking corrective behavior, this SME helps improve operational discipline, product reliability, and compliance.
